About The Site
There's been uncertainty as to the actual purpose of this site, and I have even asked myself that question. Over time I have added things and articles, only to remove them later after questioning it's purpose. It's because of a lack of focus, a goal, that can prevent anything from achieving progress. For this reason, I've thought things over and have come up with the answer.
At it's core, the site is to center around the 'Cultura' section, with the other sections supplementing the overall package. The whole point is to showcase our rich and unique culture and have it easily accessible to Raza that might not be so knowledgeable about it. We have our own customs, style, heroes, history, and language... which I think is cool and would like to share it with other people. If it sparks someone's interest in learning more about their Raza, then how tight is that? I've heard many people say things like "I wish I knew more about this stuff" when they're told about the origins of certain Mexican things, or even the word 'Chicano.' The information is out there, but you have to actively go out and get it. You have to read books, which obviously not many people like to do. I actually do, so what I do is read a 300 page book and condense that information into an article and put it on here. The end result is (hopefully) an easier to read and more entertaining piece.
With that said, the other stuff on here is more of my taste. Not everything will relate to being 'Chicano', but I (and i bet most people) don't live and breathe 'Chicano' all day every day. That's why I added things like the music section, mostly for entertainment. Basically, things I like. I like videogames, so I have a section for that. It's not going to be a full blown videogame section, that's not the point. What I'll do is just list the best games with a brief description. There's fools out there that buy a game system just to play Madden, but once they're done with that they don't know what other games they can get. I might do the same with movies, as long as I don't lose the overall focus of the site. When that happens, this shit will turn into MTV- a music channel with no music.
